Section 9: Field Safety Briefing
Each department or team leader is responsible for providing a field safety briefing or training before any field excursion. This briefing must include:
- Review of the Field Safety Plan
- Description of planned field operations
- Weather forecast for the project timeline
- Identification of potential hazards
- Instruction on the use of protective and emergency equipment
- Review of emergency procedures
- Go/no-go criteria and wait times
Participants in research-related field activities are expected to review the risk and hazard assessment as part of their ongoing professional development and to be in alignment with responsible conduct of research requirements.
Document the field safety briefing attendance. Include the date, time, location, and participants present.
