Summary
Gillian Frihse is a Laboratory Safety Specialist with Environmental Health and Safety. She assists research groups on campus by performing safety assessments, managing inventories of hazardous materials, and managing the campus-wide biosafety cabinet certification program. She completed her bachelor’s degree in 2020, and her master’s degree in 2021, both in biotechnology. In her time as a student here at the University, she participated in research that aimed to characterize the metabolic activity in agriculturally significant crops. During her career, she has done research both in academia and industry, and has since pivoted to a safety role with the EH&S lab safety group. In her free time, Gillian enjoys reading, sewing, and spending time in nature.
