Mandi Collins is a Science Master Teacher for NevadaTeach at the University of Nevada, Reno. Mandi is a University of Nevada, Reno alumni having earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education with Emphasis in Biological Sciences in 2002, followed with her Master in Education Educational Leadership degree in 2007. Mandi earned her Ph.D. in Education in 2021. She brings to the program 13 years of secondary classroom experiences and possesses a passion for teaching and learning that is essential in her role as a Master Teacher.
Her achievements as a 7th - 12th grade classroom teacher and department leader included building a cohesive department that collaborated to use data driven dialogue to drive instruction. In her role as an Instructional Coach, her achievements included supporting the needs of Professional Learning Communities and individual teachers through observation and feedback, curriculum building, and facilitating professional development opportunities. Her participation on site leadership teams, professional development committees, Intervention Assistance Teams, and Professional Learning Communities have built a strong knowledge base of the many factors that directly and indirectly impact a school community.
When not working alongside the other Master Teachers, she can be found enjoying Lake Tahoe year-round with her family.
