The Downing Counseling Clinic functions as a training clinic for student clinicians, who are committed to providing counseling services in a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental environment. Before requesting services below, we highly encourage you to read our Clinic Services page, including the types of counseling we provide as well as our fees. For confidentiality reasons, we ask that you not contact us via email or voicemail with specific symptoms or presenting issues.
By completing our Request appointment form, you are agreeing to be contacted by phone to complete a one-time screening to ensure our training clinic will be able to meet your needs. Due to the high demand for mental health services, you may be added to a waitlist until we are able to place you with a student clinician. At this time, same-day consultations are not available.
Our clinic follows the University's academic calendar. During major holidays and academic breaks, our clinic does not check clinic emails or phone calls and is closed for screening and counseling appointments. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). For emergencies, dial 911.
