Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP)

The University of Nevada, Reno is a member in good standing of the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP). The University of Nevada, Reno is working toward accreditation of its educator preparation programs under the AAQEP standards with an anticipated Quality Assurance Review in the Fall of 2024.

Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP)

Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) logoThe Counseling programs have been given the counseling profession's highest seal of approval. The Counseling Department has met the rigorous national standards of the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), which ensures that our graduates receive a superior education.

The programs that have been accredited include the Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling, and Marriage, Couple and Family Counseling.

National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)

National Association for the Education of Young Children logoThe National Association for the Education of Young Children represents the mark of quality in early childhood education. To achieve NAEYC Accreditation, early childhood education programs volunteer to be measured against the most robust and rigorous national standards on education, health and safety. NAEYC accredited programs invest in early childhood education because they believe in the benefits to children and families.


National Council on Family Relations (NCFR)

National Council on Family Relations logoThe Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) undergraduate degree program at the University of Nevada, Reno has been reviewed by the National Council on Family Relations. It has been recognized as an NCFR CFLE-approved program offering coursework covering the content required for the Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) designation. Graduates of NCFR CFLE-approved programs qualify to apply for the CFLE designation via an Abbreviated Application process.
