Summary

Jessica Keefhaver is a licensed educator, certified to teach in the general and special education settings. She is also a Project SELF scholar (Special Education Leaders of the Future), pursuing a doctorate in Special Education and Disability Studies.  

Jessica has collaborated with University faculty and staff, state developmental services, the Nevada Department of Employment, Training & Rehabilitation’s (DETR) Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation administrative staff and counselors, area school district administration and staff, University students (including those pursuing a minor in Developmental Disabilities or internships in related fields), P2I students and their families to provide and coordinate services for students in the P2I program. She has served as adjunct faculty at the University of Nevada, Reno and Truckee Meadows Community College. 

Before joining the Nevada Center for Excellence in Disabilities in 2018, she taught for six years as a high school special education teacher, was a family advocate, and worked as a paraprofessional for students with significant disabilities between three to 22 years of age. 

Jessica believes there is immense value in a society that includes individuals with different abilities and experiences, and she seeks to learn from others at every opportunity.
