Summary
Dr. Carrillo has a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision and holds an NCC. She has utilized her counseling background in higher education for over two decades. She is a career counselor and has previously worked at a university career counseling center that served a diverse student population. She has also utilized her counseling background working in human resources management with a focus on training and development, employee relations and organizational change. Almost half of her career in higher education has been in a variety of leadership roles. As a faculty member, she helps students understand their evolving professional identity, to explore their various social and cultural identities and how these identities affect the therapeutic relationship, as well as helps students recognize the intersection between career development and wellbeing.
Areas of research interest are professional identity development, counselor wellness and self-care, and best practices with program evaluation and student assessment. She also has an interest in the efficacy of online and blended learning formats. Lastly, she is an avid yoga practitioner and is a certified yoga instructor, and if not on the mat, she will be on a trail with her partner and dogs!
