Using Anywhere Polling in class

Follow these steps for using Anywhere Polling in class.

Launch the PointSolutions desktop app and click Enable under Mobile Response to generate a session ID.

Next, choose your question list. If you do not yet have a question list, please refer to the Creating a Question List page. Note that if you choose to ask verbal polling questions in class, or if you already have questions written within the application you are using to present, you do not need a question list. Make sure the question list you choose (if applicable) is selected on the Content Panel, then click Start now under Anywhere Polling.

When polling starts, the question displays in a new window, allowing students to view the question and answer choices. You will see the Response Count when students submit answers. Students can change their answer multiple times when polling is open and the last answer will be recorded. A countdown timer can be added as needed. To stop polling, click on the green Close Polling button. The chart window will open showing the polling results.

The default chart label is Answer Text. This can be changed to Bullets (e.g., A, B, C, D) by clicking the Options button and selecting Preferences. Please note, however, that the classroom computer will not save your preferences; you will need to change it every time you use it.

Repeat the steps above to poll all the questions. Remember to save the session data after you finish polling.

To save the session data, click the Options button, mouse over Session, and choose Save Session. Enter a new name for the session (or keep the default name) and save it to your external drive. Close the Anywhere Polling Showbar to be brought back to the PointSolutions Dashboard.
