PI Resources
For templates that can be edited per sponsor requirements, download the ERO toolkit. This folder is updated regularly.
Request copies of past winning proposals from Research & Innovation's Proposal Library.
If a proposal requires cost share, contact the ERO immediately and indicate “Cost Share” on your ITS. The ERO will assist with filling out the SP-11 form as part of the budget review. The following considerations must be addressed before seeking College of Engineering or Research & Innovation approval. It highly recommended that for proposals that require cost share, the ITS be submitted at least 6 weeks in advance.
- Budget Justification: Attach the Budget Justification if more than PI’s in-kind salary is indicated
- Grant duration: Indicate the life of the grant (in years or months)
- MOUs: If Research & Innovation’s division or any unit outside the College on Engineering participates, include the MOU with relevant information. This should be signed by the PI(s), their department chairs, the Colleg's associate dean for research, and the participating unit(s)
- Salary Information:
- Indicate the fringe benefits separately, along with totals
- Specify whether it is contract/non-contract time with the amounts or percentages
- Identify employees’ roles, such as PI, co-PI, and position titles for others (e.g., researcher, postdoc, grant writer)
- For grad students, provide the number of students, their salaries and financial aid (if applicable)
- This information can be provided in the Notes section or as an amendment
- Funding: Confirm the account and fund numbers with the assistant dean of administration
- Budget line details: If a budget line includes funding from different sources, provide details in the Notes section or as an amendment
- Department/College participation: Indicate what portion would be paid each year if not specified in the Budget Justification
If a PI would like to use K-12 programs as part of a project, indicate so on the ITS. Contact ERO to coordinate these services.
Sponsors now prefer your biosketch and current/pending support documents be created in ScieENcv. It is an NSF requirement to have those documents generated here. Please see this resource for more information.
