Summary

David Calvert is a lecturer of sports media.

A visual storyteller in Reno with corporate and editorial clients.

He plays slow-pitch softball, likes clean backgrounds and has a master's degree in media innovation.

Prior to this new role Calvert taught photojournalism, graphic design and multimedia production at his alma mater, the University of Nevada, Reno's Reynolds School of Journalism. He has extensive classroom experience—with more than 185 credit hours taught since 2008. And loves the relationships he’s built with students. In 2022 he was honored to be named one of the University’s Senior Scholar mentors.

Pedagogically he believes in specialization and creating experiential learning environments.

In addition to teaching Calvert brings extensive professional experience. Since the club’s inception in 2009, he has been the team photographer for the Reno Aces, Triple -A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondback. He also worked extensively for the Nevada Wolf Pack Athletics Department during the COVID-19 shortened seasons; and formerly covered Reno 1868 FC and the Reno Bighorns before the clubs folded. Additional clients include The Nevada Independent, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Associated Press, Getty Images, USA Today Sports images, the Reno Philharmonic, Bishop Mule Days Celebration, Renown Health, Northern Inyo Hospital, REMSA, Donor Network West and the University of Nevada, Reno.

Calvert is a member of the National Press Photographers Association and advises the University’s student chapter. For three years he edited the NPPA’s weekly newsletter for which his work was honored with an award of merit in 2024.

Calvert has two dogs, Aurora, and Teddy
