Nepal Visit of Dr. Erick Jones, Dean, College of Engineering, University of Nevada, Reno

College of Engineering Dean Dr. Erick Jones will be traveling to Kathmandu, Nepal, Dec. 29, 2022 to Jan. 4, 2023. The purpose of this trip is for Dr. Jones to give talks at Tribhuvan University and the U.S. Embassy, Kathmandu. Additionally, Dr. Jones will present a cooperative agreement to Tribhuvan University Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Dharma K. Baskota on Jan. 2, 2023.

Arrive in Kathmandu [KTM], Nepal, and picked up by Dr. Anish Ghimire, Assistant Professor, Kathmandu University (KU) and Biplay Pokharel, deputy general manager, Padma Media Group and hotel check-in by 2:30 AM.

• 9:00 AM Mr. Pokharel will join Dean Jones for breakfast.
• 11:00 AM Professor Kedar Rijal, Tribhuvan University (TU), will pick up Dean Jones to provide a tour of Kathmandu Valley.

January 1, 2023
Morning tour of Swyambhunath “Monkey” Temple in Kathmandu, afternoon shopping in Thamel tourist district with Dr. Narayan Dhital, assistant professor at Tribhuban University, and Mr. Shital Subedi, liaison officer, Rural Village Water Resources Management Project. Evening dinner hosted by Dr. Mohan Dangi.

• 11:30 AM Meeting with the Deputy Chief of the Mission Jason Meeks, U.S. Embassy
• 12:45 PM Presentation and introduction of Kathmandu Institute of Applied Sciences by Dr. Basant Giri, director of International Relations
• 1:45 Lunch
• 3:00 PM Presentation by Dr. Felicia Jefferson at the National Academy of Science and Technology: "Sleep Disturbances and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in Women"
• 3:45 PM Talk #3 by Dean Jones at the National Academy of Science and Technology: "Connecting Opportunities in Science and Engineering Through Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering"
