Career Roadmap
Choose two options:
- Required - Visit the Nevada Career Studio (NCS)
- Explore Career Paths - Career Services
- Handshake Resource Library, Big Interview, Resume & Cover Letter Review, Job & Internship Search, Career Fairs, Interviews
- Explore Career Paths - Career Services
- Attend a Career Fair (offered every fall/spring semester)
- Meet with Aqueelah Thompson for career planning
- Complete Forage - career simulator, learn valuable career skills by completing virtual work experiences
- Research and/or apply for NCS Sponsored Internship Programs (i.e. Pack Internship Grant Program)
- Review Journey in Navigate and mark off tasks completed
Complete at least one internship, choose one more option:
- Update application materials at the Nevada Career Studio
- Apply for a paid micro-internship
- Practice interviewing skills with a Career Mentor or virtually on Big Interview
- Apply for Pack Internship Grant Program - through the Nevada Career Studio
- Identify a professor, supervisor, alumni, clubs and organizations to gain connections for future references
- Research the requirements for graduate school (i.e. GRE, GMAT, LSAT, MCAT, etc.)
- Meet with Aqueelah Thompson for career planning
At least one internship complete, working on another:
- Refine application materials at the Nevada Career Studio
- Secure three or four professors and supervisors for professional references
- Gain experience - complete an internship, volunteer, job shadow
- Search Handshake for internship/job opportunities
- Apply for graduate school
- Meet with Aqueelah Thompson for career planning
- Refine application materials at the Nevada Career Studio
- Request reference letters: professors, current/past supervisors
- Complete another internship, seek permanent employment
- Complete the First Destination Survey - tell us about your experience at the University and what your future plans are
