Academic Advising

Below is the schedule for Spring 2024 College of Liberal Arts Student Center advising hours.

January 16–26 (weeks 0 and 1)

No scheduled appointments

The CLA Student Center will be advising exclusively through all-access drop-in hours from January 16th through January 26th. We will not schedule individual appointments during these dates. If you’re in need of alternative accommodations, please let us know.

All-access drop-In advising

During all-access drop-ins, any student (including students with advising holds) can drop-in without an appointment for any advising reason. Students will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. All-access advising will be available based on the schedule below:

January 16-19: Zoom only

Tuesday-Friday

  • 9:30–11:30 a.m.
  • 1:30–3:30 p.m.

January 22-26: Offered in-person in Thompson Building 101 as well as over Zoom

Monday–Friday:

  • 9:30–11:30 a.m.
  • 1:30–3:30 p.m.

January 29–February 2 (week 2)

Scheduled appointments

The CLA Student Center will begin offering scheduled appointments during the second week of the spring semester. See below for how to schedule appointments.

All-access drop-in advising

All-access drop-in hours will continue this week. During all-access drop-ins, any student (including students with advising holds) can drop-in without an appointment for any advising reason. Students will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. All-access advising will be available based on the schedule below:

February 5–May 17

Scheduled appointments

The CLA Student Center will offer scheduled appointments as usual. See below for during the second week of the spring semester. See below for how to schedule appointments.

Express drop-in advising

Express drop-in advising will be offered regularly throughout the spring semester starting February 5th based on the schedule below. These meetings are limited to 15 minutes with an advisor. Students will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis, and slots may fill up before the session ends.

Express drop-ins are meant to facilitate quicker advising interactions (such as schedule assistance, graduation checks, declaring minors, etc.). Students with complex advising issues that cannot be addressed in 15 minutes may be asked to return to a future express session or schedule a follow-up appointment. Express drop-in advising is not available to students with advising holds—students with advising holds must schedule an appointment.

Tuesdays

  • 10–11:30 a.m. — over Zoom
  • 2-3:30 p.m. In-person in Thompson Building 101

Thursdays

  • 10–11:30 a.m. — over Zoom
  • 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm — over Zoom

 How to schedule an appointment with your advisor

Self-schedule online via Navigate.

This option is only available to students who presently have a major or minor in Liberal If you are planning to declare into the College of Liberal Arts, please call our front office to schedule an appointment.

  • Log in: Net ID & password
  • Click on "Schedule an Appointment"
  • Under Service, select “CLA Student Center” and choose an option that describes why you’re coming in.
  • Click “Find available time” to move forward with A confirmation email means you’ve scheduled successfully.
  • You can also confirm that you’ve scheduled successfully by viewing your scheduled appointment under “Upcoming Appointments” which is located on your Navigate home page
