The grants support team is here to help
The College of Liberal Arts grants support team can assist faculty in developing and submitting research grant proposals and help ensure that proposals follow University of Nevada, Reno policies and funding agency requirements. All sponsored projects proposals are reviewed by CLA and the Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP). A sponsored project is an agreement to transfer money or property from a sponsor to the University to carry out a public purpose or provide a direct benefit to the sponsor. Common agreement instruments include, but are not limited to, grants, co-operative agreements, assistance agreements and contracts. Check with the College’s grants team if you are unsure whether your proposed project is a sponsored project or not.
To get the best use of the various College and University resources available for proposal development, please submit your proposal well in advance of the funding opportunity’s deadline. VPRI’s technical editing and external review services require that the proposal narrative is submitted to them at least six weeks in advance of the deadline. OSP requires that proposals reach them at least five business days before the sponsor’s deadline to enable a full review for completeness and compliance with sponsor requirements. CLA’s grants team requests that faculty complete an InfoEd proposal record a minimum of seven business days before the sponsor deadline to allow sufficient time for internal College and OSP review. The review process checks that the application is complete, complies with the requirements of the sponsor and follows University policies. The review process aids the principal investigator in submitting a competitive proposal, increasing the chances of a successful application.
