Resources and Allocations

Budget: The College received just under $37.7 million for Fiscal Year 25, about $300K more than Fiscal Year 24. The majority of the change to our budget is due to cost-of-living adjustments, graduate stipend increases, and academic promotions.

Unrestricted soft-funds: The College saw a 55% increase - about $70K via wintersession incentives and an 18% increase - about $219K in summer incentives through strategic scheduling in comparison to last year.

Allocated positions: This Spring, the College was authorized to carry out 15 faculty searches:

  • Humanities: Philosophy, History, Communications Studies, Political Science
  • Arts: Vocal Arts, Conducting, Music, Black Rock Press/Graphic Design, Musical Theater
  • Social Sciences: Forensic Studies, Justice Management, Spanish Linguistics, Core Writing, Computational Linguistics

Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTA) lines:

State-funded lines: Over the last two years, the College received 16 new state-supported 20-hour GTA lines, which were allocated to the following departments:

  • Humanities: Basque Studies, Philosophy, English, Gender, Race & Identity
  • Arts: Art, Music
  • Social Sciences: Social Psychology, Anthropology, Political Science, Communication Studies

Soft-funded lines: To support the Collegiate Academy initiative, the Provost awarded 17 new soft-funded 20-hour GTA lines, which were allocated to the following departments:

  • Social Sciences: Social Psychology, Anthropology, Communication Studies, Sociology
  • Humanities: Basque Studies, History, English, World Languages & Literature, Gender, Race & Identity

Outreach and Community Engagement

Performing Arts Series

The series was created from the community’s request for local performances and outreach activities by national and international touring artists.

Great Conversations

In a salon setting hosted by community supporters' homes, faculty in the College present to subscribers on thought-provoking topics researched across the three disciplines. This limited-seating event creates an engaging and intimate setting for lively discussion.

The museum enhances the cultural life of Nevada by providing a range of inclusive programming, world-class exhibitions, community events and learning opportunities. Entrance to the museum is free to the public.
