Darren's career at NNIC started in 2004, as a driver for the International Visitor Exchanges program. Over the years, in addition to continually driving groups throughout northern Nevada and California, his primary roles for the NNIC have evolved to now include a variety of tasks. Darren also writes proposals for International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) and Global Expo and acts as the logistics/transportation manager, a position that encompasses all of the logistical and transportation budgetary program needs for all NNIC annual exchanges, including IVLP, the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), the Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program (TEA), Study of the U.S. Institutes, (SUSI), the Algerian Youth Leadership Program (AYLP), Open World and Fulbright Gateway.
Darren has also helped the NNIC Refugee Program in various capacities since its inception in 2016 which is why, in part, his office door reads "utility infielder." His interest in representing the NNIC and northern Nevada to all manner of visitors has only grown since his first Open World program back in 2004.
