Hosted by Dean Isabelli, you will wander through charming cities, soak up the historical culture and enjoy the amazing flavors that make Italy magical. From the rolling hills of Southern Tuscany to the magnificent crypt in Anagni, every moment will be one to remember. It's more than a trip; it's an intimate celebration of our shared love for the liberal arts. Don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime getaway - Italy is calling!
Your registration not only covers the cost of the trip but also includes a meaningful contribution to the College of Liberal Arts, supporting our mission to elevate humanity through the arts, humanities, and social sciences. Trip Itinerary

Day 1: October 1, 2026
Rome to Southern Tuscany
Our journey begins, meeting at 10 a.m., with a talk and guided tour of select areas of Ancient Rome, such as the Capitoline Hill and Museum, exploring their connections to ancient and medieval core humanities. In the early afternoon, we share a group lunch nearby, connecting with fellow travelers and easing into the Italian rhythm. As late afternoon arrives, we drive nearly two hours to Chiusi. After settling in at our Villa, the day closes with free time and a festive pizza night by the pool, complete with drinks and laughter. Overnight accommodations are at Borgo Dolciano, offering the comfort of a private apartment after the day's explorations.

Day 2: October 2, 2026
Southern Tuscany
The morning begins with breakfast at Borgo Dolciano, followed by free time to wander the serene grounds or simply relax with coffee on the terrace. In the late morning, we set out for a local winery tour that includes tastings and a leisurely lunch, an immersion in Tuscany's winemaking heritage. As evening arrives, we return to the property for a group dinner in the garden, dining al fresco beneath the stars. Overnight accommodations are at Borgo Dolciano.

Day 3: October 3, 2026
Southern Tuscany
After breakfast at Borgo Dolciano, we'll set off on a short drive to Montepulciano, where you'll enjoy free time to explore the medieval town's winding streets, piazzas, and shops. In the afternoon, we gather for a guided tour of Cantine De' Ricci, complete with a wine tasting in its vaulted cellars. As evening arrives, a cooking lesson invites you into the kitchen with local chefs before sharing a meal together. Afterwards, we drive back to Borgo Dolciano for the night.

Day 4: October 4, 2026
Southern Tuscany to Lazio
The next leg of our journey begins after breakfast for a scenic drive to Civita di Bagnoregio, the "dying city" perched dramatically on a cliff, where we spend a few hours exploring its timeless streets and views. In the afternoon, we continue on a two-hour drive to Fiuggi, passing through rolling hills and small towns along the way. As evening arrives, we check into our hotel with the night free to relax, stroll the town, or enjoy dinner on your own. Overnight in Fiuggi at Ambasciatori Hotel.

Day 5: October 5, 2026
Lazio
Following breakfast at the hotel, our travels take us to Anagni, where a tour leads us through the cathedral, its remarkable crypt, and the town museum, illuminating medieval life. In the afternoon, we linger in Anagni for a light lunch, with time to wander its charming streets. As evening arrives, we travel back to Fiuggi for a farewell group dinner at Du' Scalini, sharing highlights and memories from our time together. Overnight at Ambasciatori Hotel.

Day 6: October 6, 2026
Lazio to Rome
The morning begins with breakfast and hotel check-out before a short drive to Fumone, a hilltop village crowned by castle ruins with sweeping views. In the afternoon, we enjoy a hearty lunch at La Taverna del Barrone, a convivial meal that showcases rustic local flavors. As the afternoon progresses, we travel back to Rome for our final departure. Guests will be dropped off at Princeps Boutique Hotel. Accommodations in Rome are on your own.

Additional information
Full payment is required to reserve a space on this trip. Payments are fully refundable up until December 31, 2025. After that date, refunds can be made only if the trip is sold out and we resell your place(s), in which a $2,750 cancellation fee will apply.
Please travel to Rome for the start of our journey. The official start of our trip will be October 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at a designated location provided after registration is completed. You are responsible for transportation to and from Rome and your accommodations the night before the trip, on September 30.
The trip officially ends in Rome late afternoon on October 6. You will be dropped off at a designated location provided after registration is completed. You are responsible for your accommodations that night and/or transfer to the airport.
All transportation during the trip, starting at 10 a.m. on October 1, 2026, to the final drop off in Rome on October 6, is covered within your trip fee.
We will have the opportunity to taste some delicious and unique cuisines in Italy. Your trip fee covers about 70% of your meals during the journey.
