Summary

Angelica Castro Bueno, Ph.D., is a Postdoctoral Fellow in Counseling Psychology at the University of Nevada, Reno Counseling Services. She supports student navigating a range of concerns including trauma, identity development, family dynamics, perfectionism, anxiety and depression.

Angelica’s research has focused on improving mental health access for DACA recipients and undocumented immigrants—work shaped by her own experiences as a Latina immigrant. She is deeply committed to expanding access to culturally responsive, inclusive care for underserved communities.

In therapy, Angelica uses a person-centered, multicultural-feminist and strength-based approach. She aims to create a collaborative space where students feel seen, respected and empowered, and tailors her approach to each student’s unique experiences, needs and goals.

Angelica earned her doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Iowa State University and completed her doctoral internship at UNR Counseling Services. Outside of work, Angelica enjoys reading romantasy novels, indulging in Thai food, and spoiling her dogs, Bella and Coco.
