Civic Engagement

The Center for Student Engagement at the University of Nevada, Reno is committed to civic engagement efforts that support the teaching and learning mission of the University through the co-creation and application of knowledge/action by students, community partners, service recipients and the university and through democratic processes that lead to self-governance. 

Definitions For CLDE

In order to participate in civic learning and democratic engagement (CLDE), it's important to know what all the components mean. Here a list of commonly used terms in civic learning and democratic engagement.

Civic Nation

The University of Nevada, Reno is a part of the community of practice for Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs). The Community of Practice hosts monthly conversations focused on supporting the involvement of HSIs in the ALL IN program and more broadly, increasing nonpartisan democratic engagement at these institutions.

The HSIs Community of Practice chorts, are supported by a group of faculty and staff higher education practitioners. The 2023 Civic Nation’s HSIs Community of Practice Fellows includes Sandra Rodríguez from the University of Nevada, Reno
