Northern Nevada Program Coordinator She/Her/Ella

Summary

Languages: English and Spanish

I was born and raised in Reno, Nevada. As a first-generation and low-income student, I understand the challenges but I feel empowered to continue persevering. I owe many of my successes from academic programs such as Deans Future Scholars (DFS) and TRiO for supporting me throughout my educational journey with the University of Nevada, Reno and Washoe County School District. I am the first in my family to graduate from college, pero no seré la última.

I am currently a program coordinator with the recently established Nevada First-Gen Network. With this initiative, we aim to provide a variety of outreach and efforts to assist the first-generation Nevadans. I also will be graduating May of 2023 with a Master of Arts in School Counseling from the University of Nevada, Reno. I am honored and fortunate to be immersed in both my educational and professional endeavors in serving future students. I am glad to give back to my community and I hope to be a representation of our first-generation, Hispanic community.
