Juliette Pin in the field

Juliette Pin

Postdoctoral Researcher She/her/hers

Summary

Juliette Pin is a geoscientist specializing in igneous petrology. Her research integrates field observations, geochemical analyses, and modeling to investigate volcanic plumbing system dynamics.

She completed her doctoral research in geosciences at Université de Bretagne Occidentale (France), focusing on continental rift–ocean transition zones. Her thesis examined the magmatic plumbing systems of active rift segments in Afar, integrating petrographic, geochemical, and thermodynamic modeling approaches.

At the University of Nevada, Reno, she uses igneous petrology to understand the magmatic and volcanic behavior of the Puyehue-Cordón Caulle volcanic complex (Chile), with a focus on volatile contents during the 2011 rhyolitic eruption. She is also working on oxygen isotopes in olivine crystals from basaltic lava at Axial Seamount (Juan de Fuca Ridge).
