Summary
Regina Tempel is an Associate Dean Emerita of the College of Science. She was employed as a petroleum geologist for Amoco Corporation and RPI, International. Regina also worked in operations, development and exploration in the Mid-continent and Rocky Mountain regions including Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado and Wyoming. She conducted regional studies on the Ordovician Simpson Group in the Anadarko and Ardmore basins and the Ordovician Red River Formation of the Williston Basin.
Research interests
Regina's research involves quantification of geochemical processes in natural settings using with laboratory experiments and geochemical modeling methods.
- Low-temperature, aqueous geochemistry/environmental geochemistry
- On-going research in arsenic distribution and cycling in mining and geothermal systems, and identification of oxidation rates and mechanisms for sulfide minerals.
- Additional interest in carbonate and clastic diagenesis, particularly as diagenesis relates to energy resource exploration.
Education
- Ph.D. 1993, Colorado School of Mines, Golden, Colorado
- M.S. 1981, University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado
- B.A. 1975, Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana
