GPA enforcement begins with the start of the student's second year the University.

Participating regions for the four-year non-resident scholarships include Alaska, American Samoa, Arizona, California, Colorado, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, Republic of Palau, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
Yes. The minimum GPA for consideration is a 3.0.
Yes. The minimum standardized test scores for eligibility are a 960 SAT score or an 18 ACT test score.
Awards are posted on a rolling basis from November through March. Please check your MyNevada Financial Aid tile for the most up to date information.
Four-year academic merit scholarships for WUE recipients awards expire after four consecutive years from the matriculation term or upon graduation — whichever comes first. Matriculation term is defined as the first term of enrollment at the University of Nevada, Reno. Students graduating early are not eligible to use the Nevada resident scholarship for graduate studies.
No. Our office highly encourages all student to submit a FAFSA or IM (non-FAFSA filers).
No. Living on campus is highly encouraged but not required. Please visit Residential Life, Housing & Food Services to learn about living on campus.
Students that do not meet the minimum 15 credit requirement each semester will lose eligibility permanently unless there is an approved 15 to Finish Reduced Credit Exception Request on file for that specific semester. To be considered, this form must be submitted by the 100% refund deadline each semester.
Yes. Students initially in 15 credits that have received the award and subsequently drop below 15 credits before the 100% refund period are no longer eligible and will have their scholarship permanently removed. We recommend submitting a 15 to Finish Reduced Credit Exception Request to see if your circumstances can be approved prior to dropping your class.
Yes. Students who receive a W on their academic record and are charged at 100% for the course will not have their scholarship removed for the current term. However, failure to complete/earn 15 credits in one semester will result in permanent cancellation of your scholarship for future semesters.

Yes. Students may submit a scholarship appeal for reconsideration if they do not meet the GPA requirements for Nevada scholarships for freshman.
No. Students may have one approved LOA for up to two consecutive terms and not lose eligibility. Failure to return within two consecutive terms will result in the cancellation of this award. Award expiration will be extended by the number of terms on the approved LOA.

Yes. Students studying abroad are eligible to use their in-state 4-year renewable scholarship during the duration of their study abroad program. Award expiration will not be extended due to studying abroad.
Please complete Study Abroad Authorization Request Form prior to starting your program.
No. There is no appeal process if a student has permanently lost the scholarship. However, It is important to understand that there are steps you can take prior to permanently losing your scholarship.
