Summary

Erin E. Edgington serves as the Associate Dean of Student Affairs in the College of Liberal Arts. She is an Associate Professor of French and has taught French language and literature at Queen’s University Belfast, the University of Michigan, and the University of Nevada, Reno. Since arriving at the University, she has also held appointments as the Assistant Director of the Honors Program (2017–2020), Associate Dean of the Honors College (2020–2022), and Chair of the Department of World Languages and Literatures (2022–2025).

A specialist of 19th-century French and French-Canadian poetry, Edgington is the author of Between the New Country and the Old World: William Chapman and French-Canadian Literary Nationalism (McGill-Queen’s UP, 2025) and Fashioned Texts and Painted Books: Nineteenth-Century French Fan Poetry (U of North Carolina P, 2017). Other research includes articles on the works of Stéphane Mallarmé, Théophile Gautier, Edmond de Goncourt, Octave Uzanne, and second language pedagogy. Her research in the field of honors education includes book chapters on internationalizing the honors curriculum and honors advising.

Born and raised in Sparks, Nevada – and a proud alumna of the College of Liberal Arts – Edgington is passionate about making the richness and diversity of the liberal arts accessible to University of Nevada, Reno students and to residents of her home state more broadly. She sits on the boards of the American Council for Québec Studies, the Alliance Française of Reno-Tahoe, and the Professional Language Association of Nevada.
