Accessibility Timeline

On March 29, 2018 the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Accessibility Committee formally adopted a multi-year Corrective Action Plan.  Below are some of the key dates associated with tasks and activities listed in the approved Corrective Action Plan.

2018

March 1, 2018

  • Submitted the revised 2018-2020 Corrective Action Plan for approval by U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights (OCR)

March 5, 2018

  • OCR approved the proposed 2018-2020 Corrective Action Plan titled "University of Nevada-Reno Proposed Corrective Action Plan (revised)" and dated February 2018

April 4, 2018

  • Officially adopted and implemented the approved 2018-2020 Corrective Action Plan

April 19, 2018

  • Submitted to OCR the approved Correction Action Plan and documentation establishing that the approved Corrective Action Plan is being implemented according to the approved schedule

October 19, 2018

  • Submitted the 1st Corrective Action Plan Progress Report to OCR

November 28, 2018

  • ICT Committee hosted the 1st Annual Campus Accessibility Forum

2019

Jan 1, 2019

  • Per the approved 2018-2020 Corrective Action Plan and University Policy, all instructional materials are accessible

April 4, 2019

  • Submitted the 2nd Corrective Action Plan Progress Report to OCR
  • Requested, and received, a waiver for the Corrective Action Plan Progress Report due to OCR on Oct 4, 2019

October 7, 2019

  • Kalena Pelekai-Wai hired as the ICT Accessibility Manager
  • The ICT Accessibility Team is formed with Shiva Pourgholaminejad, ICT Accessibility Analyst, reporting to Kalena

Dec 1, 2019

  • All non-instructional websites and web content are accessible
  • Snapshot report generated for non-instructional websites and web applications

Dec 11, 2019

  • ICT Committee hosted the 2nd Annual Campus Accessibility Forum

2020

Jan 7, 2020

  • State of the University Web Accessibility Compliance report shared with the President's Council and Academic Leadership Council

Jan 27 & 27, 2020

  • ICT Accessibility Manager, Kalena Pelekai-Wai, presented the State of the University Web Accessibility Compliance report to the President's Council, Academic Leadership Council, and University Technology Council

Feb 10, 2020

  • All inaccessible documents, multimedia, web content and functionality from the current University website hosted through the Content Management System (CMS) which has not been remediated is removed
  • CMS migration from the current University website to the new website completed

March 2, 2020

  • Submitted the 3rd Corrective Action Plan Progress Report to OCR
