Scholarships

The Department of Psychology offers multiple scholarships to qualifying undergraduate and graduate students. In order to be considered, new and continuing undergraduate and graduate students must complete the annual scholarship application in MyNevada. The scholarship application is available starting October 1 of the prior calendar year and is due February 15 of the calendar year in which the school year begins. For example, the scholarship application for the 2024-25 school year becomes available October 1, 2023 and is due February 15, 2024.

In order to be considered for scholarships offered by the Department of Psychology, you must fill out the annual University scholarship application in MyNevada.

Dr. Robert McQueen Scholarship

In order to qualify for the Dr. Robert McQueen Scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Nominated by the Department of Psychology
  • Declared psychology major
  • Junior or senior standing
  • Minimum 3.50 GPA at the University of Nevada, Reno
  • Minimum 12 credits per semester (15 credits recommended)
  • Make satisfactory academic progress

Louie and Hazel Gardella Psychology Scholarship

In order to qualify for the Louie and Hazel Gardella Psychology Scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Nominated by Psychology scholarship committee
  • Declared psychology major
  • Junior or senior standing, or graduate student participating in Nevada Caregiver Support Center or researching clinical gerontology or other mental health issues of senior citizens
  • Financial need preferred
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA at the University of Nevada, Reno
  • Minimum 12 credits per semester (15 credits recommended) for undergraduate students; 9 credits per semester (6 if teaching) for graduate students
  • Make satisfactory academic progress

Willard F. Day Scholarship

In order to qualify for the Willard F. Day Scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Nominated by the Department of Psychology
  • Declared psychology major
  • Junior or senior standing
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA at the University of Nevada, Reno
  • Minimum 12 credits per semester (15 credits recommended)
  • Make satisfactory academic progress

Crouch-Wright Psychology Scholarship

In order to qualify for the Crouch-Wright Psychology Scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Nominated by Department of Psychology, in even years only
  • Declared psychology major
  • High moral character
  • Nevada resident
  • Graduate of a Nevada high school; graduate of White Pine High School preferred
  • Junior or senior standing
  • Minimum 2.50 GPA at the University of Nevada, Reno
  • Minimum 12 credits per semester (15 credits recommended)
  • Make satisfactory academic progress
  • Financial need required
