Summary

Laura Barcelos Nomicos is the Director of the Global Institute for Behavior Analysis. She worked in the schools for two years before starting a position as a behavior technician in impoverished areas in California. She completed her master's degree at California State University, Fresno in 2012. During her time at CSU Fresno, she worked as a Case Supervisor at the autism center and became the Assistant Director of the social skills program. She began her research in the area of choice during this time.

After graduation, she worked at Therapeutic Pathways where she oversaw interventions for children ages 18 months to 16 years. During her time at Therapeutic Pathways, Laura provided interventions to help support the independence and autonomy of children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder across settings. After several years Laura decided to follow her research interests in decision-making by pursuing her doctoral degree at the University of Nevada, Reno. Under the advisement of Dr. Matthew Locey, she conducted research in both the human and rat lab. Her research during this time focused on behavioral economics. At the University, Laura began working closely with Dr. Linda Hayes and was introduced to the intricacies of providing online and hybrid instruction in behavior analysis across the globe.
