Instructions for alumni who graduated prior to 2018

  1. Visit unr.joinhandshake.com and click on the "Sign up” link located at the top right-hand corner of the page.
  2. Enter the personal email address you would like to be associated with your Handshake account.
  3. Confirm that the school you want to connect is “University of Nevada, Reno.”
  4. Create your password. Once you create your account, check your email inbox from a message from Handshake to set your password.

Note: The Nevada Career Studio may need to approve your account before you can gain access to Handshake.

  1. Email the Nevada Career Studio at handshake@unr.edu.
  2. Include in the subject line: Handshake Alumni Account
  3. In the body of the email please include the full name associated with your Handshake account and the personal email address you signed up with.

Instructions for alumni who’ve graduated since 2018

If your Handshake account has your deactivated University email address, email handshake@unr.edu for the Nevada Career Studio to update your account with a personal email address.

If your Handshake account has your personal email address, follow these steps to access your account:

  1. Visit unr.joinhandshake.com and click on the "Alumni (personal email address)" link.
  2. You will then be prompted to enter your email and password associated with your Handshake account.

Resetting your password

If this is your first time signing in with your personal email address, you will need to reset your password using the following steps:

  1. Click on the "Forgot your password" link option. You will be prompted to enter your email address associated with your account and a password reset link will be sent.
  2. Check your email for a message from Handshake and click the provided link to reset your password.
  3. Once your account has been updated, you will be able to access your account using your email and newly created password.

Updating your Handshake account email address

To maintain access to Handshake and receive email notifications without interruption, complete our Handshake Alumni Request Form for the Nevada Career Studio to update your email address associated with your Handshake account.

Handshake Alumni Account Request

You will receive a message from Handshake to your new email address. You must click on the link in the email message, log in, and enter the email verification code to complete the process. In addition, an email will be sent to your old email address for informational purposes.
