It features job/internship postings (like a traditional job board), events, career fairs, direct messaging and more. University of Nevada, Reno students and alumni can view your job postings and events. Handshake is free to use for approved employers.

Request employer approval on Handshake

Handshake's Help Center provides detailed step-by-step instructions on how to create an employer user account. To confirm that your company/organization is connected with the University of Nevada, Reno, review how to get approved by schools.

Email the Nevada Career Studio at careers@unr.edu to notify us you completed your account request. This email will expedite your company/organization's approval process.

If you are University department/office interested to create a Handshake employer account, please email us at nvcareerstudio@unr.edu to receive specific instructions.

Mandatory employer account requirements

The following items must be included when you set up your Handshake employer account before your request will be reviewed:

  • Company/organization's description
  • Company/organization's website
  • Contact information, including office phone number and work email address

Additionally, the Nevada Career Studio will verify that your company/organization has an active business license in the state in which you operate.

Post employment opportunities on Handshake

Once you are an approved employer on Handshake, you are ready to post employment opportunities. Check out the following articles from Handshake's Help Center:

Email the Nevada Career Studio at careers@unr.edu to notify us your job post is online. This email will expedite the approval process.

If you would like your job/internship promoted to University students and alumni, email us at careers@unr.edu with the position title and the Handshake URL for the job/internship post.

Optimize your job post

To attract more candidates to your job post, we recommend including the following details:

  • Brief description of your company/organization
  • Position title
  • Job description
  • Duties/responsibilities
  • Required qualifications
  • Preferred qualifications (if any)
  • Hourly pay rate or starting salary
  • Expected start date
  • Location: Will the position require in-person and/or remote work?
  • Benefits (E.g. health care, paid time off, retirement plans)
