Handshake's Help Center provides detailed step-by-step instructions on how to create an employer user account. To confirm that your company/organization is connected with the University of Nevada, Reno, review how to get approved by schools.

Email the Nevada Career Studio at to notify us you completed your account request. This email will expedite your company/organization's approval process.

Mandatory employer account requirements

The following items must be included when you set up your Handshake employer account before your request will be reviewed:

  • Company/organization's description
  • Company/organization's website
  • Contact information, including office phone number and work email address

Additionally, the Nevada Career Studio will verify that your company/organization has an active business license in the state in which you operate.

Post employment opportunities on Handshake

Once you are an approved employer on Handshake, you are ready to post employment opportunities. Check out the following articles from Handshake's Help Center:

If you would like your job/internship promoted to University students and alumni, email us at with the position title and the Handshake URL for the job/internship post.

  • Brief description of your company/organization
  • Position title
  • Job description
  • Duties/responsibilities
  • Required qualifications
  • Preferred qualifications (if any)
  • Hourly pay rate or starting salary
