Paul Kwon, Ph.D., is a professor and the director of the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program. He is a clinical psychologist with a Ph.D. in psychology from Penn State. His research investigates the role of resilience variables in how stigmatized individuals, particularly LGBTQ+ individuals, cope with environmental stressors. His work examines the ways in which people can thrive and succeed despite prejudice and stigma, leading to interventions and prevention efforts to foster resilience in these populations.

Project overview

The Pack Research Experience Program (PREP) student will be trained on collecting data from participants who receive a standardized art journaling intervention that involves flashcards with prompts to engage in creative art activities designed to elicit and foster gender euphoria. In addition, the student will be involved with assisting with a review of the literature to support a manuscript based on the study findings. Please note that this study is a graduate student's dissertation, so mentorship will be primarily from the graduate student and secondarily from Kwon.
