Edward (Eddie) Ester, Ph.D., received his Ph.D. from the University of Oregon in 2011 and joined the University of Nevada, Reno faculty in 2020. His lab uses mixtures of behavioral methods, non-invasive measurements of human brain activity, and neurostimulation techniques to understand how we see, pay attention to, and remember the world around us. Outside the lab, you'll find Ester playing with his dogs, reading nonfiction, watching sports, going on hikes, and traveling the world.
Project overview
The Pack Research Experience Program (PREP) student will learn how to design and conduct human neuroscience research, with an emphasis on eye tracking and electroencephalography. The student will learn how to plan an experiment, collect data, analyze, and visualize that data (using, e.g., MATLAB and Python), and prepare results for dissemination through conference presentations and publications. It is also expected that the PREP student will apply for independent funding, e.g., through a Nevada Undergraduate Research Award, at the conclusion of their training.
