Foundation Deposit FAQs (for staff)

If you are looking for information on making a deposit in the University of Nevada, Reno Foundation, please review these FAQs and the Forms section of the FAQs & Forms page.

  • Where do I find the procedures for a deposit to the Foundation?

In the Forms tab on the FAQs and Forms page. All information in the Forms section is alphabetical. Foundation Deposit Procedures is in the list of forms after the Credit Card Donation form and before the Foundation transmittals.

  • What is the Foundation Fund ID?

The Foundation Fund ID number is 6-digits long and can be found in Raiser's Edge under the Fund tab in the Records folder. The Foundation Fund ID is not the Worktag Fund ID (FD406 or FD416).

  • Do I need both the Foundation Fund ID number and the Workday Gift tag/GF#?

We prefer the Foundation Fund ID number, but the Workday Gift tag/GF# and corresponding fund name is acceptable.

  • Where do I find the right transmittal to use?

Within this webpage of FAQs and Forms you will find the Foundation Deposit Procedures and all the Transmittals. These Transmittals are your deposit slip and receipt. Follow the instruction in the Foundation Deposit Procedures under Which Transmittal to Use. Call (775) 784-1587 if you have questions concerning the instructions.

  • How do I deposit cash?

Cash should be delivered to the foundation office within 24 hours of receipt. Any deposit of cash of $1,000 or more should be deposited same day by two people from your department. Follow the instruction in the Foundation Deposit Procedures under Which Transmittal to Use. Call (775) 784-1587 if you have questions concerning the instructions.

  • Where do I put the name of the donor if I have cash from them?

The first donor field on the Gift transmittal is name on check. Please put the donor’s name in this field. If the cash is from an anonymous donor please put the word anonymous in the name on check field.

  • How do I know if the deposit is gift or fee?

The person or company giving you money should indicate what the funds should be used for. If ANY part of the money is tax deductible (i.e., a portion of a sponsorship, Corporate Partners or outright donation) you will use a gift transmittal. If they are paying for something (i.e., dinner tickets, tickets to an event, souvenirs or any fee) you will use a fee transmittal. Follow the instruction in the Foundation Deposit Procedures under Which Transmittal to Use. Call (775) 784-1587 if you have questions concerning the instructions.

  • Where do credit card payments go?

Any time you get a credit card payment, over the phone or through the mail, you will fax it to our secure fax at 682-5944. There is a credit card form on the FAQ & Forms page that you can use. If you choose to have a receipt for the credit card, fill out the transmittal and fax it with the credit card form. Card information need only be on one of the two forms, not both. We will fax the transmittal back to you. Follow the instruction in the Foundation Deposit Procedures under How to fill out a Transmittal (credit card). Call (775) 784-1587 if you have questions concerning the instructions.

  • How do we process a Gift-In-Kind?

Gifts-in-kind are non-monetary gifts. Follow the instruction in the Foundation Deposit Procedures under Gift-In-Kind. Call (775) 784-1587 if you have questions concerning the instructions.
