Summary
Robin Milshtein is the Program Coordinator for the Honors College Disruptive Innovations Program at the University of Nevada, Reno. At the University, Robin works with students to ideate and evaluate new disruptive ideas at the intersection of academic disciplines. Robin has 15 years of industry experience serving in a variety of functions including R&D, business development, strategic marketing, and corporate venture capital. In her previous role, Robin served as the Senior Director of Business Development at New Sun Road, a Public Benefit Corporation committed to accelerating the adoption of renewable energy for remote and underserved communities. Prior to joining New Sun Road, Robin served as Head of Business Development and Sales at WindBorne Systems, commercializing a high-altitude atmospheric sensing platform to collect meteorological data for weather forecasting and scientific understanding of climate change. Robin spent the first ten years of her career at the global Fortune 500 manufacturing corporation, Saint-Gobain, developing high-performance materials for a broad range of applications. Robin has direct experience conducting technology landscaping, creating new product development plans, performing hands-on research, scaling technologies from the lab bench to commercial scale, and acquiring new customers. In her venture capital role, Robin led investments in early-stage startups addressing the industrial energy transition.
Robin holds a Master of Science in Materials Science and Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Union College. Robin is an avid proponent of developing the next generation of leaders in STEM. She is a volunteer and mentor for non-profit, Women in Cleantech & Sustainability, where she previously served on the Board of Directors. She is an active member of the Society of Women Engineers.
