Summary

Hello! I’m Austin Grush, a Graduate Teaching Assistant for the Honors College and Fellowships Advisor for the Office of Undergraduate Fellowships at the University of Nevada, Reno. I am an instructor for Honors 109: First Year Experience. I am proud to be able to share my experience both academically and from my previous careers. Using these experiences, I hope to be able to help these honors students to share their own experiences so we can grow together.

I was born and raised here in the Washoe Valley, where I studied Economics and Political Science during my undergraduate tenure. I then spent some time as a financial advisor before moving to Arizona and then traveling internationally. I am currently pursuing a doctorate degree in Economics at the University of Nevada, Reno. With a doctorate, I hope to pursue state and/or local budgetary work or a professorship here at the University. My research currently focuses on the impact of state policy on local markets, and potential co-contributors to the unaffordability crisis.

In my personal time, I like to collect board games to collect dust on my shelf. My goal is to actually play them, but my fellow hobbyists understand that challenge. I also cook/eat good food, get dragged on hikes, and try every day to be a kinder, more gracious person.
