Request to be re-evaluated
Since the FAFSA uses prior year tax data (e.g., the 2023-24 FAFSA uses 2021 tax information) to calculate estimated family contribution (EFC), students whose financial situation or household has changed due to income change, job loss, death, divorce or extraordinary expenses/situations can request a professional judgement to re-evaluate your financial aid eligibility. Below are the different professional judgments that can be submitted for review.
For the 2022-2023 school year
Submit the re-evaluation using 2021 income and benefits form and required documentation if there has been a change in your or your parent’s income from 2020 to 2021. You must have 2021 tax data.
Submit the 2022-2023 special circumstances form if your family has had a change to the household or extraordinary expenses that may have affected the financial situation in the household.
For the 2023-2024 school year
Submit the re-evaluation using 2022 income and benefits form and required documentation if there has been a change in your or your parent’s income from 2021 to 2022. You must have 2022 tax data.
Submit the 2023-2024 special circumstances form if your family has had a change to the household or extraordinary expenses that may have affected the financial situation in the household.
If you have any question about the process or your situation, we are here to help.
