Request to be re-evaluated
Since FAFSA uses prior prior year tax data to calculate estimated family contribution (EFC) (e.g. 2020-21 FAFSA uses 2018 tax information), students whose family’s financial situation or household has changed due to job change, job loss, death, divorce or extraordinary expenses/situation, you can request a professional judgement to re-evaluate your financial aid eligibility. Below are the different professional judgments that can be submitted for review.
Families impacted by COVID-19
If your family has been affected due to COVID-19 the following re-evaluations can be submitted for either year.

COVID-19 re-evaluation using 2020 income and benefits
Submit the COVID-19 re-evaluation using 2020 income and benefits form and required documentation if your family’s income was changed significantly in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

COVID-19 re-evaluation using 2021 income and benefits (available March 1st, 2021)
Submit the COVID-19 re-evaluation using 2021 income and benefits form and required documentation if your family’s income will be changed significantly in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
For the 2020-2021 school year

Re-evaluation using 2019 income and benefits
Submit the re-evaluation using 2019 income and benefits form and required documentation if there has been a change in your or your parent’s income from 2018 to 2019. You must have 2019 tax data.

Re-evaluation using 2020 income and benefits
Submit the re-evaluation using 2020 income and benefits form and required documentation if there has been a change in your or your parent’s income from 2018 to 2020. You must have 2020 tax data.

Special circumstances 2020-2021
Submit the 2020-2021 special circumstances form form if your family has had a change to the household or extraordinary expenses that may have affected the financial situation in the household.
For the 2021-2022 school year

Submit the re-evaluation using 2020 income and benefits form and required documentation if there has been a change in your or your parent’s income from 2019 to 2020. You must have 2020 tax data.

Re-evaluation using 2021 income and benefits (available January 1st, 2022)
Submit the re-evaluation using 2021 income and benefits form and required documentation if there has been a change in your or your parent’s income from 2019 to 2021. You must have 2021 tax data.

Special circumstances 2021-2022 (available February 1, 2021)
Submit the special circumstance 2021-2022 form if your family has had a change to the household or extraordinary expenses that may have affected the financial situation in the household.
