Mining the Best Students

The Mining Engineering Department attracts students who do well in math and science and who are interested in exploring and developing natural resources, while providing a sustainable environment for future generations. Our class sizes are small which creates a personal, hands-on educational experience. It makes for a friendly department where everyone is known and students feel a sense of belonging. To join us apply to the University of Nevada, Reno as a new freshman or transfer student. Besides satisfying the University’s admissions requirements, success in the program depends on math placement. Many Mining Engineering students qualify for the Honors Program.
