Providing students a deep understanding of English literature and literary theory
With nearly 30 graduate faculty, our program has specialists in most areas of literary, rhetorical, composition, and linguistic study. Learn more about different degree emphases here. Our graduate program (65-70 students) is small and intimate enough that students enjoy a sense of community and benefit from close faculty mentoring. Faculty members take their roles as mentors very seriously, giving students the careful attention that helps them define and achieve their professional goals.
Requirements and Expectations
Applicants to the M.A. program must hold a bachelor's degree with an undergraduate major or minor in English and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Potential applicants without an undergraduate major or minor should talk with the Director of Graduate Studies to determine which undergraduate English courses they should take to prepare to apply.
