Matteo Aureli received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Rome "La Sapienza," Rome, Italy in 2005 and 2008, respectively. He received his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering in 2012 from the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the Polytechnic Institute of New York University (today known as NYU Tandon).
He joined the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Nevada, Reno in 2013 where he currently serves as an Associate Professor as well as Director of the Mechanical Engineering Graduate Program. His research interests are in fluid-structure interaction, vibration and dynamics, smart materials and systems, and multiphysics modeling. His teaching interests span topics in engineering mechanics, mechanical vibrations, and controls.
Dr. Aureli received the National Science Foundation CAREER Award in 2019.
