Our mutually beneficial partnerships with industry are essential to the success of our students. Students like Evan Klouse, featured in this video, are able to build connections early on that often lead to job offers and careers immediately upon graduating. The Mackay School, through the Mackay Student Services program, helps bridge the gap by facilitating these types of relationships early on in a students career.

Bringing industry into the classroom

One of the most powerful ways out partnerships with industry impact our students is through the naming of professorships and chairs. Industry-sponsored positions help the Mackay School bring in the best faculty and, in turn, develop the best students and future employees. The Mackay School has 10 current named positions as well as two positions named as planned gifts to the School. Five of these positions were named by our partners in Industry.

Goldcorp Chair in Minerals Engineering

The chair supports the Mackay School of Earth Sciences and Engineering in recognition of the importance of higher education in the academic areas critical to the minerals industry.
