Cost of attendance

The cost of attendance, also called a student budget, is a university's highest total estimated expenses for one year. A school's cost of attendance is used to determine each student's eligibility for financial aid, such as grants and loans.

What is included in my cost of attendance?

The student budget includes direct costs paid to the University (e.g., tuition and fees, housing and food for on-campus residents), as well as indirect costs (e.g., housing and meals for off-campus residents, personal expenses, transportation, and books and supplies). Most indirect costs are not charged by or payable to the University.

The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships administers the varying University-, state- and federal-based financial aid programs that are included in an undergraduate student's financial aid package. These programs include scholarships, loans, grants and work study (i.e., student employment).
