Center for Advanced Studies

Recognizing, facilitating and promoting research and scholarship and innovation

The Center for Advanced Studies (CAS) was constituted by the Board of Regents in 1984. Originally established in the College of Arts and Science, CAS was expanded to a University-wide organization in 2003. The purpose of the Center is to recognize, facilitate and promote research, scholarship and innovation at the University of Nevada, Reno. CAS Fellows are the recipients of the University of Nevada, Reno Outstanding Researcher of the Year Award and of the University of Nevada, Reno Established Innovator Award. Since 1975 the Researcher of the Year Award has been presented annually to one of the top researchers at Nevada; the Established Innovator Award began in 2015 and recognizes faculty members who translate research and scholarship into innovation, commercialization, and entrepreneurship.
