Research Interests

  • Ecology and taxonomy of benthic meiofauna and macrofauna, with particular attention to deep-sea systems and extreme shallow and deep-sea environments
  • Nature of the interactions between different benthic components i.e., micro-, meio- and macrofauna
  • Relationship between benthic biodiversity, functional diversity and ecosystem functioning considering different spatial scales and environments
  • Assessment of the ecological quality status and evaluation of the impacts (natural and anthropogenic) on benthic environments through benthic organisms i.e., microbes, meiofauna and nematofauna, macrofauna.
