Summary

Tyler Calkin is an interdisciplinary artist and educator interested in the interactions of humans, technology, and the environment. He is a National Science Foundation grant recipient and has shown his work at Lincoln Center, Harvestworks, Leonardo/ISAST, Supernova Digital Animation Festival, Noemata, Centre for the Living Arts, Night Lights Denver, Place des Nations and the UN Headquarters. He received his MFA in Art and Integrated Media from the California Institute of the Arts.

Calkin teaches courses in digital media, which emphasize critical discourse and experimental practices in video, VR and AR, interactive media, creative coding, performance and game design. Before coming to the University of Nevada, Reno, Calkin taught in the Program in Art and Technology and the Center for Integrated Media at CalArts, where he developed an experimental VR lab.
