Graduate students

The Writing & Speaking Center offers graduate students two options for one-on-one appointments: our general schedule or our Graduate Student schedule. The Graduate Schedule consultants are all graduate students working in various disciplines.

In addition to one-on-one consultations, the University Writing Center offers specialized support to dissertators and thesis writers.

Thesis & Dissertation Writing Fellows

The Writing & Speaking Center offers a program to graduate students who are working on theses and dissertations. Thesis and Dissertation Writing Fellows allow graduate students the option to be paired with the same writing consultant over the course of one semester (3 visits minimum) or a full year (5 visits minimum). Initial meetings between graduate students and their Thesis and Dissertation Writing Fellows include planning a working agenda for the semester or academic year.

Consultations will accommodate individual graduate student’s writing needs and process, according to their graduate schedule. Consultations can be designed to improve literature reviews, methodology sections, formatting, organization, and readability, or any other aspect of writing.

Only five (5) Thesis & Dissertation Writing Fellows are available each academic year. Requests will be accepted until October 1, 2018 or until the fellows are assigned.

If you are interested in pairing with a Thesis & Dissertation Writing Fellow, please fill out the form below.

Graduate Writing Groups

The Writing & Speaking  Center is hosting facilitated writing groups for graduate students working on theses, dissertations, grant proposals, or article submissions.

If you are interested in participating in a Graduate Writing Group, please contact Maureen McBride.
