Mar Inestrillas, Ph.D.

Summary

Mar Inestrillas is originally from Spain, with roots in Madrid and the northern coastal towns of Cantabria and the Basque Country. She received her B.A. in philosophy at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Soon after, she moved permanently to the U.S. and earned her Ph.D. in Spanish literature, language and culture from the Ohio State University (Columbus, OH). As a graduate student, she lived for a few months in Cuernavaca, Mexico, where she led a group of American study-abroad students. She has traveled extensively in the U.S., Europe, Canada and Latin America. She returns to Spain regularly to conduct research and to present papers at international conferences. In 2012, she was granted an USAC visiting professorship at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (Madrid, Spain). Since joining the faculty at the University of Nevada, Reno in 2002, she has taught a wide variety of upper-division and graduate courses, published widely in her fields of interest and served the department and the University in many committees, including as a Spanish graduate director and interim director of the Latino Research Center.
