From home school and charter programs to large public schools, the Planetarium provides a University-quality educational experience for your school group.
For more than 45 years, the Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Center has hosted hundreds of thousands of students on thousands of field trips. As a public science education facility specializing in atmospheric and space science and related fields, it’s our goal to increase interest, awareness and understanding of these disciplines by offering quality programs and experiences tailored to all ages and education levels.
What to expect on your field trip to the Planetarium:
At the Planetarium, all of our field trip shows align with the Next-Generation Science Standards (NGSS) dimension of practices in science and engineering. Each program complies with several of the NGSS Crosscutting Concepts, and most are in accordance with specific Disciplinary Core Ideas within the NGSS. For questions about standards alignment, please email the Planetarium staff.
Field trips to the Planetarium include two complimentary admissions for two teachers per group.
All other student, teacher and chaperone tickets are $5 each.
There is a minimum charge of $75 per field trip. Payment for the group can be made by credit card, cash or checks made payable to Board of Regents. Purchase orders from government agencies require prior approval.
Transportation to the Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Center is not included in field trip fees. Contact your school for transportation arrangements in advance of your visit. Buses may drop off and pick up in the loading circle next to our building, and may park in University north lots during the field trip.
Free permit parking is available in designated spaces in the West Stadium Parking Complex, level 3, just east of the Planetarium for chaperones. For high-profile vehicles taller than eight feet, please call the University’s Parking Services at (775) 784-4654 for information about required permits and parking locations.
Please plan to arrive approximately 15 minutes prior to show time to allow teachers to check in and students to use the restroom. Planetarium staff will greet and direct your group to the Full-Dome Theater or Exhibit Hall.
Remember, your group may be followed immediately by another, so if you arrive late, we may need to adjust your presentation to accommodate the next group scheduled. For safety reasons, guests who arrive after the program has started may not be admitted.

Please note that the cancellation fee will not apply in cases of extreme weather conditions or unresolved emergency. The Planetarium will be as flexible as possible to accommodate your group under these circumstances.
