The following are the most common questions regarding filling out the Traditional BSN application.

For the fall semester, the deadline is July 1. The final day to accept admission is July 15.
For the spring semester, the deadline is December 15. The final day to accept admission is January 10.
No, only include nursing prerequisite courses in progress. Do not list courses from another major that are in progress.

If you received a transcript from ATI, it is the “Individual Score” for the ATI TEAS that you will enter.
If you received an “Individual Performance Profile," it is the “Total Score” for the ATI TEAS that you will enter.
No. Only the score from the latest exam can be used, not the best score.
Applicants may only take the TEAS once per the Traditional BSN application cycle. Please note, if you are planning to apply to the Accelerated 12-month Second Baccalaureate BSN (ASBSN) Program in addition to the Traditional BSN, you are limited to one TEAS exam per year. Contact your advisor in this instance before scheduling an additional exam.
No. If you took the TEAS directly from another institution or through ATI Remote Proctoring, you must request an official ATI transcript be sent to the U of NV Reno.
No. Orvis staff will access the test results directly from ATI Testing.
You will upload your GPA Calculator Worksheet. This is required. Be sure you have completed and are submitting the latest GPA Calculator Worksheet.
As applicable, if you are a Nevada high school graduate, you will upload a copy of your Nevada high school diploma or high school transcript. This is also where you would upload other documents such as a copy of your DD-214 or military service documentation if you are claiming Veteran preference on the point matrix.
If you are not a Nevada high school graduate or veteran or active duty military, you do not need to upload any additional files here.
No, Orvis staff will access your University unofficial transcript and transfer credit report from MyNevada.
Once you press the “submit” button on your application, a message will pop up that you are successful! The information entered on each application and GPA calculator will be meticulously reviewed and verified. Within the next 20 business days, you will receive an email from OSN Admissions asking you to confirm the application detail summary. This is the final information that will be used in the selection process. Respond to that email within the timeframe provided.
Once admission decisions are made, those receiving a provisional admission and those not admitted will receive an email from OSN Admissions. This happens all within the same day.
For fall applications, students are notified usually no later than the first week of October. For spring applications, students are notified usually no later than the first week of March. Notification dates vary depending on the number of applicants in each application cycle.
The admission offer is contingent upon successful completion of any remaining prerequisite courses in progress at the time of application with a grade of C or above, negative drug screening, and background check deemed acceptable by the Orvis School of Nursing clinical partners.
Traditional BSN GPA calculator worksheet FAQs
If the AP credit was earned while in a Nevada high school, under Prefix & Number/Repeat enter the course you have received credit for and add “AP.” It might look like this: MATH 181 AP. You will be leaving the Grade and Credit columns blank, but because this credit was earned at a Nevada high school, you may claim the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) Credit. In this instance, type NV HS in NSHE location and enter the number of credits under NSHE Credit. This AP credit must also appear on your transfer credit report in MyNevada.
If the AP credit was earned while in a high school outside of Nevada, you may receive credit for the course but cannot claim the NSHE Credit. Under Prefix & Number/Repeat enter the course you have received credit for and add “AP.” It might look like this: MATH 181 AP. Type the state and HS under Location/Repeat, i.e. CA HS. NSHE Location and NSHE credit cells are to be left blank. Again, this AP credit must also appear on your transfer credit report in MyNevada.
Enter the course as it was taken at the other institution but enter the credits as they transferred to the University of Nevada, Reno according to your transfer credit report in MyNevada. The NSHE Location and NSHE Credit cells are to be left blank unless the course was completed at a Nevada System of Higher Education institution. All transfer credit must appear in your MyNevada transfer credit report. This includes prerequisite courses in progress from another institution.
When you request through Admissions and Records to have a grade replaced, the original grade earned is changed to “R” grade on your transcript. You would enter the second grade earned for this course on the calculator. Please note, this course must be completed and not in progress at the time of application to Orvis.
Grade replacement is only an option if both attempts were completed at the same institution. For instance, grade replacement would not be an option if the first attempt was at Truckee Meadows Community College and the second attempt was at the University of Nevada, Reno.

Yes, it can. For instance, COM 412 satisfies Communication and Capstone. You may list this course twice fulfilling two of the prerequisite requirements on the GPA calculator, but you may only count the NSHE credit once. There are other courses that satisfy multiple prerequisites. Work with your advisor to identify these courses and prerequisites. Please note that a course may only be used twice for this purpose and no more.

PSC 100 is the Nevada Constitution requirement. Most students complete this requirement when they take CH 203, which satisfies both the Nevada Constitution and the U.S. Constitution requirements. In this case, leave PSC 100 blank.
Some students satisfy the U.S. Constitution with PSC 101 (often with AP credit) and take PSC 100 to complete the Nevada Constitution requirement. If this is true for you, type PSC 101 AP on the CH 203 line and complete the PSC 100 line as it applies, as well.

Type in either YES or NO in the Value Column and the Point will calculate accordingly. To receive credit for Nevada high school, you must upload a copy of either your Nevada high school diploma or transcript under “Additional Documentation” on the application.
This can be found in your “Demographic Data” tab in your MyNevada account. If you are claiming “In-state” residency status, this will be confirmed by Orvis in reviewing this tab. Any appeals to residency status must be resolved and your demographic tab updated by the time you apply to Orvis.
