Who should attend a NURS 101 advising workshop?

  • Mandatory for all current students who want to declare Pre-Nursing
  • Mandatory for all new transfer students; must be accepted to the University of Nevada, Reno prior to meeting with academic advisor
  • Prospective transfer students; will not meet with academic advisor after session
  • Prospective NSHE transfer students; bring unofficial NSHE transcripts to meet with an advisor

Who should not attend a NURS 101 advising workshop?

  • Incoming freshmen; must attend summer orientation
  • Prospective freshmen; attend a Nevada Bound event
  • Students who have already earned a bachelor's degree, please contact OSNadvising@unr.edu

What does the NURS 101 advising workshop cover?

  1. Nursing pre-requisite coursework required for admissions for the Orvis School of Nursing BSN Program
  2. Pre-nursing academic policies
  3. Eligibility to apply to the Orvis School of Nursing BSN Program
  4. Admission process and criteria for the BSN Program
  5. Learning how to be a competitive applicant
  6. Attendees will meet with an academic advisor after session (for current or accepted University of Nevada, Reno students only)

What to expect

The NURS 101 advising workshops are mandatory! Your workshop must be completed to receive academic advisement.

  • Two hour workshops are for current and admitted transfer University of Nevada, Reno students and are offered weekly. Current and admitted transfer students will meet individually with an academic advisor during the second hour of the session (as long as all transfer transcripts have been submitted).
  • One hour workshops are for prospective transfer students (those who have not been admitted and/or have not applied to the University of Nevada, Reno). These workshops are offered monthly and do not include individual advising.

For transcript evaluation you must apply to the University of Nevada, Reno and submit all transcripts.
