Elizabeth is a third-year graduate student and Ph.D. candidate in the Biochemistry program. After attending the University of Western Washington, where she got her Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology, Elizabeth joined Dr. Rueckert’s lab at the University of Nevada, Reno. Currently, her studies focus on virus-vector interactions, specifically antiviral pathways in the mosquito that transmits West Nile virus. Elizabeth has a passion for volunteering, in her undergraduate studies, she gained firsthand experience in organizing a club whose aim was to encourage students to support their community through environmental clean-ups, food donations, and mutual aid. She is excited for the opportunity to join GSA and help facilitate positive changes in the University community. If elected, Elizabeth plans to advocate for graduate student unionization, promote student outreach events, and foster community amongst CABNR students. Elizabeth truly believes that a stronger sense of comradery between students leads to a better quality of education and life.
