GRAD 704 - “Teaching with Technology” for Future Faculty
The Instructional Design and Educational Technology Team in the Office of Digital Learning (ODL) will be offering this course in the spring semester as a two-credit course, open to graduate students and postdocs who hold positions as GTAs, LOAs or instructors and who aspire to positions as teaching faculty.
The course focuses on the effective integration of technology in teaching, through discussion of research, current practice, and the application of methods and tools in teaching. Technologies discussed may include, but are not limited to: WebCampus tools, presentation tools, student response systems (clickers), video tools, and website tools. The course is hybrid by design and combines work completed online with regular face-to-face meetings. The program culminates in the creation of an ePortfolio on teaching with technology and a presentation of the ePortfolio at the end-of-semester showcase. The ePortfolio is intended to augment the student’s professional development and job search. Students who complete all requirements will earn a Satisfactory grade in the two-credit graduate-level course as well as the “Certificate in Teaching with Technology.”
All University of Nevada, Reno graduate students and postdocs with teaching assignments at the University (GTAs, LOAs and instructorships) are eligible to apply via the online application. Postdocs may apply and if accepted, may audit the program to earn the “Certificate in Teaching with Technology” without enrolling in graduate credits.
